Type of tournament

There are two parts to the competition: a preliminary round and a medal round. The preliminary round will be held in a half round robin format where each team plays every other team. The competition will then proceed to medal playoffs and continuing rounds. The teams ranked 1st and 2nd will be playing the final. The teams ranked 3rd and 4th will play for the bronze medal and so on. All the matches will be played on a full pitch and 2 x 25 minutes with a 10 minute half-time break. 

Categories and divisions

Men’s competition:

Max 10 teams; Teams consist of minimum 13 and maximum 15 players (incl. 1 goalie).  

Women’s competition:

Max 10 teams; Teams consist of minimum 13 and maximum 15 players (incl. 1 goalie).

Mixed competition: 

This is an option should there be sufficient interest amongst registered participants and will be examined in early 2013.

Tournament organization

At least 5 matches per team.
All the matches will be played on a full pitch and 2 x 25 minutes with a 10 minute half-time break. 

Schedule

Wednesday 7 August : 13:00 to 17:00 : preliminary rounds.
Thursday 8 August : 10:00 to 19:00: preliminary rounds.
Friday 9 August : 10:00 to 19:00: preliminary rounds.
Saturday 10 August : 10:00 to 19:00: medal rounds & award ceremony.
The final field hockey schedule will be posted on www.pinkhockey.com at the end of registration/June 2013.

What is field hockey?

Field hockey is a sport that is gaining popularity over the years and the new infrastructure is a proof of that in Antwerp. We invite you for an exciting tournament whether you are elite or novice. We are organizing a fun and professional tournament for everybody.

Each team consists of 13-15 field players and one goalkeeper. The goal is to hit a hard plastic ball into the opposing goal using the flat side of the hockey stick. A field hockey match has two 25-minute periods with an unlimited number of substitutions.

Separate competitions for women and men will be offered.

The tournament guarantees suspense and fun!
