Abstract Submission Form

Language:
Only abstracts in French, English or Spanish will be considered. Abstracts in other languages should be accompanied by an acceptable translation into one of these three languages and contain a notice in other languages if necessary. This could be provided by the applicant's network during the conference or by the worldOutgames organisation in advance.

Preferred presentation type:
Please indicate whether you wish to give an oral presentation, you would prefer your topic to be part of a panel (room for discussion), a poster presentation, or an interactive or creative workshop (where people leave their chairs and are actually involved to create, for instance, 'new insights’). We encourage active involvement of the participants from the very beginning of the workshop (e.g. collating the topics, motivations for attendance, round tables, …).

Abstract categories (topics):

The conference has four main topics:
* The bequest of our heroes, security and the liberation of a legacy;
* The role of faith-based structures in promoting equality and creating safe harbours;
* Beyond the threshold of healthcare; towards a healthy mind in a healthy body;
* Leaving safe harbours to find safety, between Eldorado and diaspora.

Please read carefully the background of the topics as described in the vision note and indicate yourself the links to one or more topics in question and to the central theme ‘from safe harbours to equality’.

Keywords:

justice – health care – migration – religion

What we would require of you:

·         Please indicate in which of the four categories you would place your topic.

·         Please indicate separately for each of them how relevant your topic is for: Lesbians, Gays, Bisexuals and Transgender, other.

·         Please indicate for which regions/continent your topic is relevant.

·         Please indicate whether your topic is relevant for processes and strategizing beyond 2013 and opportunities which will occur after the conference (e.g. strategic alliances to promote LGBT rights somewhere from 2014 to 2020). Be precise on dates, negotiations/processes and strategic opportunities.

·         Please give us a short résumé of who you are, enabling us to know who you represent.

·         Indicate how you will involve people back home or networks before, during and after the conference. (E.g. do you have blog, twitter, website, membership organization, networks, mailing lists, supporters,…) and do not hesitate to start with a tweet about your suggested workshop today.

Method of delivery/modus operandi or Abstract body and title:

·         Please give us three to five keywords (tags) to indicate what your contribution will be about

·         Please give us the title of your abstract: maximum 250 characters (indicative: 170)

·         Please give us a short description of you contribution: max. 500 words (indicative: between 250 and 400)

·         Please indicate whether you have articles, reports, documentations or pictures which can be presented on the conference website the day you run you session

·         Thank you for answering all these questions carefully and for uploading your abstract

·         One submission is equal to one abstract

Additional information:

Beyond the main themes we are also looking for narratives, people ready to share their unique story/ lifetime experience with an audience in the form of an autobiographical  interview or narrative. Please suggest us names of people deserving this platform. We all know them, the humble workers dedicating a lifetime in the shadows for the cause of LGBT human rights.

We encourage very much the suggestion and submission of abstracts from critical people from outside the LGBT movement on how they look at the movement and its efforts and agendas. Please do not hesitate to invite ‘straight’ people to participate and to give us an external  view on what we can learn  and what we can do better in collaboration or alliances with others (e. g. from media, journalists, women's movements, labour organizations, politics, education, etc.). You can forward them this notice, referring to this paragraph.

Should you represent an organization, please don't be individualistic, but indicate your position and give us possible other people to run the workshop (if that is the case).  We strive for a balanced representation of LGBT, of different ages, of volunteers vs. board members and staff, of all regions, and therefore it can be important to give us options, even if that option includes a slightly different approach.

Thanks so much to those who send an abstract with those options.
