Men and women run together but there will be a different classification. In each running competition, we will employ the following age categories:
18-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, 80-84, 85-89, 90-94, 95-99, and 100+ years
Discover the city in a different way and put on your running shoes.
The 5K - 10K and the half-marathon - marathon start separately.
There will be different rest days between the two running competitions so each athlete can compete in both disciplines.
Timespan: 2 days
Thursday 8 August: 5 kilometres and 10 kilometres
Sunday 11 August: half marathon and marathon
|Start Half Marathon||13u00|
For those who want to run on the track, we have also a Track and Field tournament. For more information please check our website on http://woga2013.org/index.php/en/sports/track-and-field
5K + 10K: the running competition will take place in a beautiful nature area in the city of Antwerp. The 5K athletes will run one round, the 10K athletes two rounds in ‘Park Spoor Noord'.
Half marathon + marathon: the runners follow a varied track through natural surroundings, several little villages and narrow streets in Antwerp. Live bands will give the best of themselves alongside the route of both competitions. The half marathon runners follow a route from Massenhoven to the Grote Markt of Antwerp. The marathon runners start at the Grote Markt, follow the track to Massenhoven and then go back to ‘de Grote Markt. These athletes therefore follow the same route twice in opposite directions.
These locations are accessible by public transport. Once the travel times from the bus company for 2013 are known, this information will be communicated on our website.
Bronze, silver and gold medals for the top three of each age group.
Running is humankind’s oldest means of transportation, and a sport that remains accessible for almost everyone around the world, whether young or old, male or female, poor or wealthy. You can choose between 5K, 10K, half marathon or marathon.
The marathon is a long-distance foot race with an official distance of 42.195 kilometres (26 miles and 385 yards).
All the running competitions will be open to all participants.
Make sure to check in the schedule which other disciplines are available to you. Brace yourselves for a tournament that guarantees suspense and fun!
