


What is worldOutgames 2013
worldOutgames is an international event organized from within the LGBTQ community open for everyone. After Montreal 2006 and Copenhagen 2009, Antwerp is next in line in 2013. The event consist of three main pillars: a human rights conference, a cultural festival and a sports event with in total over 250.000 visitors. Antwerp is also Europe’s capital of sport in 2013. worldOutgames will be the biggest sports event in its programme.
Why do we organize worldOutgames 2013?
The aim of the worldOutgames is to open eyes and to improve acceptance for LGBTQ people throughout the world. We wish to show or differences and accentuate our similarities with everyone else. Through culture and sport we wish to bring harmony and integration, tackle homophobia and strengthen the self-confidence of the LGBTQ people.
Where will worldOutgames 2013 take place?
In Antwerp, Belgium.
It is a city and municipality and the capital of the Antwerp province of Flanders. Antwerp is the largest municipality in both Flanders and Belgium.

Do I have to reveal say my sexual orientation?
No, you don’t!
Everyone can participate regardless of his sexual orientation, age, gender, race, religion, nationality, ethnicity, physical challenge, political beliefs, physical ability, athletic/artistic skills, HIV or general health status.
On which days will the sport competitions be held?
The sports week will be from 5 till 10 August 2013.
Some sports will be held in one day other over more than one day depending on the number of participants. Have a look at the specific sports pages. There you will find more information about the sport specific scheduling.
Schedules can always change due to a lower or higher participation rate or other unforseen circumstances.
Can I participate in more than one sports competition?
Yes, you can!
But pay attention to the specific sports schedules. Some sports competitions will overlap in day and time.

ABOUT THE CITY
Where I can Sleep?
Antwerp has plenty of hotels, hotels and Bed and Breakfast places.
We also offer Hosted Housing. More information you can find the next FAQ item.
Do you offer Hosted Housing?
Yes we do!
Key is to register as soon as possible. Hosted Housing will firstly go to Outreach participants and the remaining beds will be distributed on a first come first serve basis.
You’ll pay 30 € for the whole period and wil be hosted by locals in the greater Antwerp region.
How i can move around Antwerp?
A public transport pass is included in your registration fee for the entire duration of the Event. This pass is valid on all busses and tram within Antwerp.
You can also rent a bike at Fietshaven Antwerpen or use the Vélo city bikes. More information can be found on their respective website.
There are plenty of taxi’s that can take you anywhere you wish to go. A 10 minute drive will cost about 10-15 euros.
